

“‘Shrek Forever After’ combines the very best in storytelling and artistry while showcasing the wonders of innovative 3D filmmaking. “We have always sought to open our Festival with films that are captivating and strike an emotional chord with movie-goers,” said Jane Rosenthal, co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival, in a statement. Previous Tribeca openers include Tina Fey comedy “Baby Mama” and Woody Allen’s “Whatever Works.” The premiere will take place on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, while the Festival will run through May 2. The final chapter in the “Shrek” series, the film was directed by Mike Mitchell and features the voicework of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz and Antonio Banderas.

The Tribeca Film Festival has announced that the DreamWorks Animation sequel “Shrek Forever After” will open the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival.
